Prepatory Course
Dar Al Ulum’s preparatory course is the perfect program for students to familiarize themselves with the various programs the institute has to offer. Whether you are still learning the basics of Islam, are brushing up on your Qur’an recitation, are still contemplating the time commitment, or simply want good company, this course is perfect for you. Students can choose to continue on to the Aalimiyah or Hifz programs or choose to continue taking courses in the program.
Schedule
The course requires a commitment of six hours per week. Classes run on Tuesday from 7pm to 10pm and on Saturday from 10am to 1pm. The flexible nature of the course allows students to attend once a week if they are unable to attend on both days.
Teachers will assess a student’s level of Qur’an reading and will work with students individually towards achieving fluent recitation with the rules of Tajweed. Reading Qur’an fluently is essential for the Aalimiyah and Hifz program.
Students will begin an introduction to Arabic where they will learn basic words, statements, and verbs. Students will also learn to write in Arabic. The Arabic covered in this course will not go into major details, as is covered in the Aalimiyah program.
Students will memorize a list of forty short ahadith covering five branches of faith. (Imaan, Ibadah, Mu’amalah, Mu’asharah, Akhlaaq). The teacher will provide pertinent and practical explanations of the ahadith covered.
Students will learn the basics of Iman, Salah, Zakah, Ramadhan and Hajj in English and French. Students will be split according to Hanafi and Maliki groups.
